Awana stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed (2 Timothy 2:15). 

The goals of Awana are to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ, and to train them to serve Him.  To that end, the children learn Scripture, hear Bible stories, and play games.  They are also strongly encouraged to bring friends to visit, so that the leaders can model how to share the gospel.
