Throughout the month we save our spare pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters. On the last Sunday of the month we celebrate Change for Change -- collecting our spare change to benefit Rehema Home in Nairobi, Kenya. The spare change adds up! And Rehema Home is making a difference in the lives of abandoned, orphaned, and HIV+ children.
 | Rehema Home Rehema ("Mercy" in Swahili) Home is dedicated to the long-term care of abandoned, orphaned, and HIV+ children who have no family to care for them. There are currently over 40 children at Rehema, ranging in age from two months to nine years old. Over half of these children are HIV+.

 | Irv and Ruth Schwandt Irv and Ruth Schwandt who direct Rehema Home,have been serving as missionaries in Kenya since 1970. Irv is a graduate of Elim Bible Institute in Lima, New York. Ruth is a registered nurse and a State Certified Midwife. The Schwandts worked for four years in another home in Kenya which takes babies from birth to one year. About half of the babies admitted were HIV+. They found that with proper care, medication, and lots of love, between 90 - 95% of the HIV+ babies became HIV negative. Since that home only had facilities for babies, they felt that a home was needed for long-term care. The result? The formation of Rehema Home.
