Building and ground projects
In 2011, we added a new front entrance canopy at a cost of approximately $54,000 funded from member donations. We also added fencing, mulching and new equipment to our children’s playground.
During 2011 through 2013 we conducted a 3-year fund-raising program for our 1.2 Million Education Wing expansion. God moved mightily among us and we completed the construction of our 8500 sq foot Education Wing financed entirely from member donations.
We are now updating our church master plan drawings that will graphically show our plans for future building and grounds projects at Shepherd Gate. These drawings will be displayed in our lobby and on our website for members and visitors to view. They will include the following projects:
Family LIfe Center
A 10,000 square foot multi-purpose room that will provide the church with a facility for church members and the local community. Some of the many uses of the Community Life Center are:
- An indoor athletic facility with full-sized basketball courts and will flex to accommodate volleyball, indoor soccer, lacrosse, aerobics and more.
- A reception/conference facility for 400 guests seated at tables for receptions, conferences and other gatherings.
- An observation mezzanine.
- A place for Baptisms.
A center for children’s ministry and youth activities.
God has blessed us with 13 acres of land for outdoor activities.
We are working with software that allows us to visualize multiple options for developing our open field space at Shepherd Gate. People can burn energy and we can provide a wholesome recreation option to the community. Development plans could include sports fields (soccer, cricket, lacrosse or others), pavilions for picnics and a perimeter walking path.
We plan to add an additional 100 parking spaced to augment our existing 115 spaces at Shepherd Gate.
This is needed to accommodate continued growth in membership. The parking lot will be located to the rear of our existing building and will include security lights lighted landscaped pathways to the rear doors of the Education Wing.
Over the years we’ve often thought it would be nice to have a place to remember loved ones, right here at Shepherd Gate.
We are planning a memorial garden that will be near our church building, handicapped accessible and beautifully landscaped. It will be a place where people can pray and mediate, baptisms will be held, and loved ones can be memorialized.
Ongoing Enhancements to our Facilities
As we move through the next several years, you will also notice other enhancements to our existing facilities, such as technology improvements in our sanctuary, fireplace in our library and upgrades to other rooms in our building.
