“Maturity in Christ is a process, but it is also not relegated to those who are older.”

The Ministry Minute

I love working with a wide variety of ages and these past couple of months have given me some wonderful opportunities. Reconciled, our young adult’s ministry spent an entire week in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. This has been a great time of fellowship each year and this past year was no different. God has called the church together in fellowship so that we may spur one another on towards righteousness. My favorite time during the week was spent in worship with the group! I look forward to this week each year and have even found our house for next year so make sure you keep Memorial Day weekend in your prayers as God expands our ministry.

Rock Solid Youth group has a wonderful core group forming within it. I recently shared at youth group about the process of maturing in Christ. I made the point that maturity in Christ is a process but it is also not relegated to those who are older. Jesus called twelve young men to follow Him and they changed the world. God can do the same through Rock Solid Youth.

That is the joy of youth ministry. To see God call each of these students towards the life He has for each of them and to be a part of that process is amazing. Summer is always a crazy time but it is also a wonderful time of forging new relationships with incoming students and this summer has been no different. The highlight of our summer is always Messiah Teen Camp. This year offers a special opportunity for me to share at camp. The theme of this year’s camp is “What’s Your Story?” Our stories are unique to us and God can use each story to bring the lost to the light of God. I pray that each of us will leave camp with the understanding of God’s great plan for each of us.

“Maturity in Christ is a process, but it is also not relegated to those who are older.”

We’re Keener Than You!

What an amazing year for the Keener family! The blessings have come showering down and all that Caroline and I can say is God is good!

We began looking for a home in September with the news that we were expecting a new addition to our family. Throughout the process we prayed for a home that we could use for ministry and for expanding our family. On the night we placed on offer on our new home we prayed in our car in front of the house and asked the Lord to honor our request. We received a call as soon as we made it back to our old place! We moved into our new home in November and the next five months were a blur as our anticipation for the arrival of Oliver grew.

We do not know how many children God will chose to bless us with in the end, but we have been blown away by our special little man. The sun was created on the 4th day of creation; our son must have heard and came with the number four in mind. Oliver Andrew Keener was born on April 8th, 2014 at 4:40 am after four pushes and four hours after Caroline and I sang happy birthday to him in an attempt to coax him out. From the moment Oliver has entered our lives we have not been the same.

I have new appreciation for the love that God has for us. I find it hard to believe that God would love us so much to give us the gift of raising a family. This has been a wonderful year for us and I look forward to the amazing things God has in store for the Keener’s in the year to come! Blessings to you all!
